Cumming has the distinct honor of having had the same mayor since 1970, a 36-year reign. Incorporated in 1834 and named for Colonel William Cumming, a distinguished officer in the War of 1812, Cumming is also the home to other famous personalities. Junior Samples, a staple of the old Hee Haw television show is from here as is professional wrestler Sting (Steve Borden).
